I made this mural on the Medina Square for a chalk festival in June 2024. If you could liquify music, I would need a constant IV of it. Some days I live on Spotify. If you hadn't noticed from my 'about me' page, or guessed from the Beethoven drawing on my 'personal artistry' page, I am a music major at school; it's such an amazing thing! From classical to pop to CCM, God wove together the sound waves of the world to create frequencies that we could identify and manipulate to make different kinds of music, and I think it's the coolest thing ever.
As far as this drawing, it depicts the song "Smile" by Sidewalk Prophets. If you've got three minutes, why not give it a listen? It's peppy and preaches that you can always find a reason to smile - "there's always a reason to always choose joy." It doesn't stem from a place of toxic optimism, though. Rather, it comes from "something deeper that the world can't destroy." For the Christian, nothing that this world can throw at us can diminish the joy of Heaven that awaits us - not pain, not sorrow, not even death... much less a stubbed toe or some traffic! So there's always room on my face for a smile. :)
